New start
Was getting bored with the same work at office...but recently got to work on project which Shri started and I have to add few new functinalites to it. Shri writes a code in a very organized way so was feeling very proud :) and happy that I will learn new things. This project is totally developed from scratch and in latestest technologies.
One month back got one more great thing to work on....an android app. I was really happy to get that work. Getting very challenging works so very much excited.
Last 2-3 months were very busy at work so stopped going to gym. From lsat week going at least once in a week. One guy from office saw me running and was telling me about it. Next day he came to my office and told me "Thank you!! I saw you running and have started running myself. I really appreciate that."
Now I have to continue what I am doing :)
Have to plan for so many events. Ram's bday, Ganapati, India trip. Wow, so many things to do. Really excited.

One more great summer weekend
This weekend we decided not to do anything and just relax at home.
Friday Bharati invited us for dinner. I was looking forward for it.....for lots of chatting and some wine :) it was really good evening with Banerjees.
Saturday morning got up, ate favorite poha after long time and just did masti with kids and relaxed. In the afternoon fed lunch to Jai and he went for his nap and R am and me went to grocery store. I went to Patel store after a while so was overwhelmed and bought so many thing....even Ram picked few snacks.
I love to go to pier one imports with Ram. We got very nice pillows for the Sun room.
In the evening went to promenade plaza and had ice cream at cold stone creamery.
On Sunday had great brunch of dosa, sambar, chatani and bhaji and headed for movie during Jai's nap time. The movie "Brave" was awesome. Raja family also joined us for the movie. Then we all went to Collins creamery, the drive is very scenic. And no need to say about the icecream :) Had long chat there and came back to start the beautiful week ahead!! :)

My 5k
On 1st January we all were talking about our own resolutions. Everybody's resolutions were quiet interesting. Generally I don't make any resolutions but this time I was feeling to have one. So made a resolution to take out time for exercise at least three times a week.
It was quiet difficult in my everyday routine. After coming home there was zero possibility that I will go out and do workout, so decided to join office gym.
From last 3 years I was wishing if I could run 5k. I talked about this wish with Rahul. He said first of all start going to gym regularly and if you can do it for at least a month then aim for 5k. I found this really logical and was determined to do that.
Next month I could go regularly to gym and registered for 5k in Glastonbury.
When I started the gym Shri suggested to take weight training from instructor. In the beginning I could hardly run 1 mile or could do elliptical for 15mins. In couple of months my stamina was quiet good. even in step class, I started using higher step. I was feeling more motivated since I was gradually able to do more and more things.
After 2 months, there came "Biggest Loser" contest and decided to participate it. It really helped me to get motivated to eat good and exercise. Gym owner used to send tips every week.
I ran 3 miles at the start of April, so Rahul said you can easily go for 10k if you practice more. I didn't get much chance to practice so decided to go for 5K.
One week before race I was getting ready in the changing room to run outside. Donna my colleague asked me what are you doing today Preeti? I told her that I am running outside, she said she will come with me. I was really happy since to get some company than going alone. That 60+ girl :) ran with my speed almost 2miles, I was impressed. Such things give you lot of inspiration.
I ran 3miles on treadmill 3-4 times but didn't get chance to run on road so I was going to run this distance on road directly on race day itself. I was nervous. On the race day, it was very cold around 6 degree C so we decided not take kids to take to the race. Nobody was there to cheer me :(
I started from home one hour before the race, didn't take GPS and lost the way but could find the right way. The drive was very scenic. When I reached there, the environment was very enthusiastic. People were getting ready by stretching and running.
I went and stood near the Start line and finally the race started. It was very crowded, there were 472 people running. Some people came with their kids in stroller. One old guy 65+, was running with double stroller.
After finishing quarter of a mile there was water stall, I had some water while running and after that was feeling more enthusiastic, started running faster. Completed 1 mile in 11mins and after that saw people are coming back :) It was a loop run, take a U turn after half distance and come back from same road.
As I was getting closer and closer, was feeling more and more energetic. Last slope was very challenging, it was very steep. When I did that steep road was just feeling to stop but then was telling myself, you are almost there and watching other enthusiasts. When I crossed 3mile hording and could see "Finish" line, I ran with the maximum speed. On the finish line there was timer and was showing 34:49 :) It was the great feeling!!
It was a lifetime experience. I will try to do it again.
